In the one hour trip to Uganda, I interacted with my first Ugandian.  Unaware of the fact that I was a missionary, I started learning about the African culture.  I felt it was important to assimilate into the African culture by learning various languages and dances.  That interaction, intertwined across culture barriers, led to a multitude of opportunities to spread the gospel Jesus Christ.
On my arrival at the Uganda International Airport, I was requested by Missionary Kim, leader of the Africa Mission Trip  Celebrate Africa 2004, to stay behind with one of our teammates to help him be directed to our missionary base camp.  I graciously accepted, but little did I realize that this turn of event led to my first interaction with missionaries from abroad.  Moreover, it was the first time God used me in Africa.

Uganda International Airport.  Sitting within the international airport lounge sat four people  three from Korea, one from America.  Each had their own unique characteristic.  After interacting with the three Korean missionaries, I had begun to bond with them through the blood of Jesus.  Each of us was on a mission for Jesus Christ through His command, ¡°¡¦go and make disciples of all nations.¡±   Moreover, we had some extra comical humor about ¡°marriage¡± and ¡°girlfriends and boyfriends.¡±  Nevertheless, despite our cultural and language differences, we were dedicated to become closely knitted together in friendship and love.
As for the boy from America, let me explain his situation.  After losing his luggage, forced to come to this trip and strongly desired to go home, he was not necessarily the happiest man on earth.  Even though he was not living comfortably, I had the idea that ¡°man does not live by bread alone¡±, but ¡°from every word from God.¡±  Before I knew it, I eagerly attempted to aid my newfound friend to find his lost luggage.
Even though communicating with Ugandans was not easy, God used me to be a vessel of communication between the different cultural barriers.  I was in the airport for eight hours constantly communicating with three different cultures.  I did not realize it at the time, but God made me this way to get along with anyone of any race, culture, language and personality.

Sanchee, Missionary Base Camp.  After the arrival of the Hallelujah soccer team from Korea, we departed together (the one from America left early).  We left towards Base Camp in a taxi around 8:00 pm at night.  It was difficult for me to recognize my surrounding terrain, but I had a strange sensation that Africa was different from what I expected  people on streets, starvation, and disease was not what I saw.
We arrived at Base in Sanchee around 9:00 pm.  Our missionary teams had already begun worship service within the church.  With mattresses laid across the church floor, I simply walked in and worshipped.  This was my first worship service overseas.  I do not recall too much about what happened that night, but I do remember my first experience brushing my teeth at the water pump.  I had not brushed my teeth for two days.  Personally, if I had stayed any longer in Africa, I probably would stop brushing my teeth.
