Then it struck me. I understood why Jesus had compassion to the five thousand people earnestly seeking Him. Jesus could not rebuke or refuse them, but show them compassion by teaching them even to go as far as feeding them. Despite His fatigue or hunger, He was always willing to teach out of compassion.
Day 7 June 6th, Tuesday
Casting out the demon in Christ's name.
¡°In the name of Jesus Christ, I command you, Satan, to leave!¡± I commanded.
Calling the Twelve to him, he sent them out two by two and gave them authority over evil spirits. Mark 6:7. Likewise, I was sent here on a mission to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ with authority over the devil.
I was once told by UC Santa Cruz- Crown Bible Study group that the name of Jesus Christ was extremely powerful...powerful enough to heal me of my physical and spiritual sickness. During these first few days in Africa, I noticed many of my missionary friends were suffering from spiritual attack. Some were experiencing strange sicknesses while others felt a strong desire to flee back to their homelands. Even I was starting to feel the strange desire to go back home. Regardless, I knew that the power of the devil was working hard to prevent us from spreading the gospel of Christ.
It was a dark and gloomy Tuesday night when everyone was about to go to sleep. Around 11:00 pm, I was setting up my sleeping area and did my normal bathroom hygiene. Around 11:20 pm, I was ready to go to bed when I realized that I should get a group together to start praying for two of our extremely sick missionaries. I was led outside of my lodging area and found two of my 1good friends, whose name should remain anonymous, ready to tell ghost stories. Hey. We should get together and start praying. I said bluntly. Without question, we walked to a remote place and begun to pray.
Right before we prayed for the two sick missionaries, we heard this loud horrific shrill in the dark shadowy realm behind the church. I heard that exact same scream when I was in a Mexico Mission Trip. remarked my friend. I knew that there was the devils presence within our Missionary Base Camp. I did what I had to do. In the name of Jesus Holy Christ, you devil leave now! You do not take part in God's plan, for His plan will triumph! Leave devil in Christ's name! I said. Then without knowing, I stood up and started to shout with a raspy voice, rebuking the devil. You Satan, leave in the name of Jesus Christ! You have no power here because God's presence is here! You have no authority over us anymore because Christ came and regained the authority to us! I rebuked. I was filled with a surge of powerful energy that I could not describe. I knew I was filled with the Holy Spirit God has promised us. There was this strong presence within me that was making me overflow with abundant energy. I knew that this time was God's time. He was in control of this mission and of my life. For ten minutes, I spent that time rebuking the devil and inviting God's presence to come.
