How come I was not informed about this? Why is everyone coming with us? I thought.
For some reason, we had to pay for an extra 11 people to tag along with us. I decided to shrug the idea that 'nobody told me to be aware of this' off, but another thing that concerned our team was...wel...you'll find out.
Alright, we have the missionaries and the entire Kasese team district coming with us...How much room do we have in the car with the luggage onboard? Very little. I thought.
Don't worry, we're Africans! We can find some way to put everyone in. Assured one of the Kasese team leaders.
So we had 19 people in a van with our luggage. If each of us weighed approximately 100 pounds each plus another 200 pounds of luggage, then may God help us.
I was scrunched in a tiny little corner in the front seat of the minivan. There was no leg room or any possible way for me to move my arms freely. Moreover, due to the vast amounts of luggage around me, I had to crumple up into a cannonball just so I could squeeze through a small gap next to the window. I was like this for a half an hour. I tell you truthfully, when you're in a minivan with 19 people, you grow a sense of a deep bondage with everyone else because you're so close together.
Day 12 June 11th, Sunday A pastor-in-training. It was a lovely Sunday morning in the district of Kasese. Our team arrived last night after a long 7 hour public bus transportation. By this time of the week, I was sick of public transportation, especially taxis.
Just show compassion like Jesus Christ. I thought throughout the day.
It was around 9:00 am when we departed to attend our second church service in Africa. Apparently, as the guest of honor, I was invited to give a sermon to the audience. That was expected.
However, after the church service, I experienced another taste of compassion. Around me were young children eager to get a glimpse of me. Moved by compassion, I taught the children about Jesus, regardless of how physically exhausted I was.
From this experience, I gained a vision for my future career. As a pastor, I wanted to minister the good news of Christ to men, women and children of all ages and ethnicity while redirecting those who have lost a sense of direction in Christ In other words, redirect lost sheep to the shepherd.
Day 13 and 14 June 12th13th, Monday and Tuesday We obliterated the walls of Satan and replaced it with the Word of God.
It's all about love. I knew. 7:30 am. VBS (Vacation Bible School).
It was time to fulfill the mission we were sent here to do Spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We departed at 8:00 am to our first school. At our arrival, children recognized us and ecstatically
waved at us. Screaming with shouts of joy and rejoice they eagerly waited for us to start our curriculum.
I was moved with cossion.
We started to do our worship songs and played a few games preceding the lesson plan. I began to teach the children about Jesus and how he reflected the good shepherd (Luke 15:1-5). Regardless of how unprepared, exhausted and frightened I was, I had the Spirit of God working through me. I did not feel an ounce of fatigue overwhelm my body every time I taught the children in Christ's name.
After the lesson plan, we invited all the children if they wanted Jesus in their life. They all raised their hand.
