President Nkurunziza has been overthrown only a month to go for the Presidential elections by Maj.Gen Godfroid who formerly was the head of intelligence in the army of Burundi

This is a reminder that the coup has taken place while in Tanzania the President are making an assessment on the prime minister¡¯s report concerning the issues in Burundi. President Nkurunziza himself had attended the meeting where he is expected to give detailed explanations on what is going on in Burundi.

According to the announcement put forward by Major General Niyombare Godfroid ¡°Because President Nkurunziza does not value the piece of advice given to him by the internationally requesting him to respect the constitution of Burundi and the Arusha peace agreement , we decide to overthrow him from being the President of Burundi and his government

At first hearing the announcement was like a joke, but as time went on, General Niyombare and his supporters were able to seize the airport of Bujumbura, they seized the national Radio and Television and it was finally confirmed that the coup had taken place. Major Gen Niyombare the interim President now right away had a talk with the journalists which confirmed to the people that the coup is real not a joke.

However the President¡¯s office posted on their twitter wall that it was an attempted coup but it didn¡¯t succeed.   Maj.Gen Godfroid Niyombare currently was dismissed from his role of being the head of intelligence in the army of Burundi, today he is the one who announced the overthrow of Pierre Nkurunziza and he had in company many high commanders in the army and Police
